Default Canarian Weekly: Lanzarote greets a fourth immigrant boat this week

YET another vessel arrived at Lanzarote?s La Santa port on Wednesday morning at around 8.40am, with some 30 immigrants aboard, and the Guardia Civil were alerted by fishermen.

The boat had sailed about a mile around the coastline before being helped by fishermen, who were operating in the area.

It was the fourth small vessel to arrive in Lanzarote waters this week, making a total of 11 this month alone.

The boat had to be towed to the port side, because of the poor weather, and several emergency services were waiting to assist the arrivals.

There were 29 men and one woman aboard, all from different areas of North Africa.

Officers questioned the immigrants, one by one, to determine their ages, and, apparently, they all seemed to be in considerably good health, needing little medical assistance.
