Default Branson takes big swipe at Britain’s ‘bad’ tax on flights

SIR Richard Branson has announced that airline Virgin Atlantic has begun flying a new route to Cancun, the Mexican city resort, and he has taken the opportunity to take a massive swipe at Britain’s punitive tax on flights.

Branson described the air passenger duty on flights as a disgrace and said the British Government will take around £10-million a day in August. He suggested that in an Olympic year this was obscene.
He suggested the suffocating tax was out of control with above inflation rises hitting the economy hard and impeding recovery from the recession.
